Rift and Quarter: Flooring that is marked or specified as Rift and Quarter Sawn is a combination of Quarter Sawn and Rift Sawn developing from the production run.
Riftsawn is similar to quartersawing, but the cut is made at a slightly different angle to avoid the bold flake effect caused by rays which radiate from the center of the oak log. It produces a comb-grain effect.
Quartersawn: Quartersawing produces less board feet per log than plainsawing and is therefore more expensive. Quartersawn wood twists and cups less and wears more evenly.
Herringbone is a tradition of patterned wood flooring. We offer custom-milled Herringbone flooring. Please contact us for details
